Just, aww.
The birds of the sea
You know spring is coming.
A mix between liquid and a solid state of water. So smooth, so soft, so frozen and so slippery. Glad I had my spikes on.
Had to stop by the Lighthouse as I make my way home.
Thinking of Christmas with this fall color scheme.
On top of Oberg Mnt, the leaves had already fallen while the the lower areas still had full color on most of the trees.
I've wanted to capture this view for a few years. Finally making it here I wanted a bit more time before the sun set behind the hills. Maybe tomorrow morning will give a nice push of color on these trees too.
I found it remarkable that the fog was still so think even on a very bright and sunny day.
Baptism River meets a wall of fog on Lake Superior
Duluth pier on a great autumn day.
For something so constant, it sure took a lot of trys to capture a "nice" looking wave. I thought the colors here even on a very cloudy day still looked great.
She's roaring today
Black Beach - Silver Bay, MN The black "sand" is from years of taconite being dumped into the waters from mining companies as the waves bring it back to the shore. Over time the waves pound the small rocks into fine pebbles, creating this one of a kind black beach.
The Great Hall
Through the front gates of the Fur Trade Depot looking at the great hall.

Kids, gifts from Santa might be a little late. I just saw Santa in a phonebooth calling the North Pole.
Nothing escapes the grip of Gitchi-Gami
The Soft Blanket of Ice Cover the Firm Rocky Shore.
Even The Rage Of The River Slows In Winter - It was interesting laying down on top of the ice for this shot as the water rushed below me, moving the ice like a soft wave.
Good morning Split Rock Lighthouse - Wishing there were more clouds to really make the sunrise more interesting, I looked for a more abstract approach to capture the sunrise.
The sunrise bringing warmth to winter -
One of the best sunrise captures I've had. I actually got to sit down and comfortably watch the sunrise, while waiting for that moment the waves formed this V shape as it crashed on the rocks in front of me.
The shores of Lake Superior.
Old pilings covered in ice.
Manitou Falls.
Combine the hike, height, and falls. This is my most liked waterfalls in MN. It's like a mini Willow RIver in WI.
I specifically wanted to take this shot because I remembered this tug boat having lights on it... well there were no lights on it this time. Guess I'll try again another time.
Reflections are always a fun way to view things. The hard part is to not get your shadow in the shots.
This end is up and that end is up, wait? More reflections from the melting snow.
I traveled how many hours to take a picture of a rock. Huh, I didn't think I was that bored. But here is the rock, Hollow Rock.
I wonder why they call this the blue hour?
Once the sun gets 10 mins into the sky the place looks rather dull and flat. It's all about that early morning call.
The lichen covered rocks are what caught my eye to take this picture. The sun was being less dramatic now that it was a whole 30 mins old in the sky. But these colors still gave some interest to this perspective.
How does this shrub not just crumble to the ground under all that weight?
Cedar tree branches waking up with the warmth of the sun.
Why is a rock with a hole in it so interesting. I guess when you get light reflections like this it seems to make sense.
There's the sunlight. Just enough cloud cover to give some nice light rays.
Nearby rocks covered in ice.
An Ice Bulb. I guess it's winter trying to make it difficult for spring to start it's thing.
Winters Chandelier
A thin cover of ice gives these rocks a marbled effect.
I really like these little dark tunnels through the forest. It's creepy yet exciting. I also played with a little color shift here to set more of a cooler mood.
It's not camping if there isn't oatmeal for breakfast.
Such violence yet so mesmerizing.
Waiting for the big wave to come crashing in.
and yes, I got too close. So I was waiting for the splash to hit over this lichen covered rock, but I didn't take into account the large, and I mean bucket over head kind of splash that happend just off camera. I called it good with this photo after that.
and of course the water here had to get 2 feet deeper than the rest of the stream. But I couldn't turn around without a shot looking straight at it.
Yeah that's right. I'm taking a picture of you.
You wouldn't guess this was taking durning the autumn season. Notice the sea smoke in the distance.

Oh good, more haunty trail time.
I should turn back before I end up hiking these spooky trails at night. No thank you.

The way the forest looked was magical, but there was nothing short of hard work and hard breathing moving through these set of stairs.
